Is Umbrella Labs legit?

Start with the public record

On May 18, 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration sent a warning letter to Umbrella, addressed to Brendan Mullins in Tucson, Arizona, naming the website umbrellalabs.is. The letter concerned products named in the letter that the agency considered unapproved new drugs and misbranded, and it stated that one of those products had been found to contain an undeclared pharmaceutical ingredient. None of the products named in the letter were peptides. The letter is published at https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/umbrella-612037-05182021, and the business is still operating in 2026 under the same domain.

That is the context for everything else. Umbrella Labs sells a mixed catalog of research chemicals, nootropics and peptides in vials, capsules, nasal formats and bulk, with peptide listings including BPC-157, a BPC-157 and TB-500 blend, AOD9604, ACE-167 and a group of bioregulators. For this report we read the homepage, the BPC-157 product page, the certificate index and the quality assurance page, the payment and shipping pages, the Trustpilot profile, the FDA letter and a third-party vendor wiki. We wanted to know whether the peptide documentation stands on its own, and whether the company around it looks different from the one the agency wrote to.

Umbrella’s quality page says purity is validated by analytical chemists credentialed by the National Certification Commission in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and that routine analyses are conducted in a CLIA environment. The certificate index names two outside laboratories, MZ BioLabs and Vanguard Laboratory, and the BPC-157 page states purity of 99 percent or better by LC-MS with an endotoxin certificate alongside. Shipping is free across the United States with no minimum. The homepage title adds that the company has been “Featured on Yahoo and MSN”. A phone number, 1-855-471-8544, and business hours are published, and research-use-only disclaimers appear on the product and quality pages.

What held up

The certificate index is real and open. It lists PDFs with direct links, and the documents come from two named outside laboratories, which puts the peptide line ahead of the many peptide-only suppliers that name nobody at all. The BPC-157 page links to an endotoxin certificate in addition to the purity report, so HPLC, LC-MS and endotoxin results are all documented for that item. A buyer can open these without an account and read them before ordering, which is the minimum we ask of a certificate library and more than most storefronts in this series provide.

The logistics claims are also as stated. Shipping is free in the US with no minimum, from Arizona, and the phone number and hours are on the site. Payment options are set out on their own page: personal debit card, same-day bank payment, BTCPay for crypto, and Plaid ACH at a 5 percent discount. BPC-157 is listed as a range from $48.99 for 5 mg to $88.18 for 10 mg, which lands in the middle of what we track for that vial. The research-use disclaimers are where they should be, on the product pages and the quality pages rather than buried in terms.

What did not hold up, and what we could not verify

The certificates are filed by date, not by lot. No lot or batch numbers are visible on the index, so a dated PDF tells you that some material was tested on that day and not that the vial in your hand came from it. That is the single most important weakness in an otherwise decent certificate library, and it is why we record per-lot certification as unknown rather than confirmed.

The credential language describes people and rooms rather than the company. Chemists with an NCCCCE credential and a CLIA environment are not a GMP or ISO certification held by Umbrella Labs, and the company does not claim one. “Featured on Yahoo and MSN” refers to press-release placements rather than editorial coverage, and we give it no weight.

The site itself does not say who or where the company is. No street address and no legal entity name appear on umbrellalabs.is; the address at 3280 E Hemisphere Loop, Suite 190, Tucson, AZ 85706, comes from the Trustpilot profile and the FDA letter. There is no returns or refund policy at all. The only remedy offered is a one-time, no-cost replacement of a lost shipment or damaged product, and filing that claim requires a customer account. A buyer who receives the wrong item in good condition has no written recourse.

The Trustpilot profile shows 3.0 from 235 reviews, with recurring complaints about slow shipping and slow responses; we report the figure and do not weigh individual reviews. PeptideProtocolWiki, a third-party vendor wiki, reports that card charges appear on statements as “UNBLOCK” with a $1,000 cap and that business debit cards are refused; we did not test checkout and attribute that to the wiki. Sterility testing, shipping carriers, delivery turnaround, the founding year, the product count and whether GLP-class products are sold are all unrecorded or unknown. Finnrick, an independent testing aggregator, has no entries for this supplier in our record.

Our read

Judged on the peptide paperwork alone, Umbrella Labs gives a buyer two named laboratories, open PDFs and an endotoxin report, which is more than most suppliers in this series manage. Judged as a company, it carries a 2021 FDA warning letter over a mixed research-chemical catalog, including an undeclared ingredient in one product named in that letter, and it still publishes no returns policy, no address on its own site and no lot numbers on its certificates. The documents are genuine. The business around them has a record a buyer should read first, and the dated-not-lot-numbered certificates mean that even a careful buyer cannot close the loop between the PDF and the vial. If you need named labs and an endotoxin result and can accept a no-returns arrangement with a company that has been written to by the regulator, the peptide line is documented. If any of those conditions is a problem, it is a problem here.

Findings in brief

What checks out, and what does not

Checks out

The certificate index is public, links directly to PDFs, and names two outside laboratories, MZ BioLabs and Vanguard Laboratory.

The BPC-157 product page links an endotoxin certificate alongside a purity claim of 99 percent or better by LC-MS, so HPLC, LC-MS and endotoxin are all documented for that item.

Shipping is free across the United States with no minimum, from Arizona, and a phone number, 1-855-471-8544, and business hours are published.

Research-use-only disclaimers appear on the product and quality assurance pages, and payment options are set out on their own page.

Does not

The FDA issued a warning letter dated May 18, 2021, naming umbrellalabs.is for unapproved new drugs and misbranding of products named in the letter, one of which was found to contain an undeclared pharmaceutical ingredient.

Certificates are filed by date rather than by lot or batch number, so a buyer cannot match a PDF to the vial received.

The Trustpilot profile shows 3.0 from 235 reviews, with recurring complaints about slow shipping and slow responses.

No returns or refund policy was found; the only remedy is a one-time replacement of a lost or damaged shipment, and filing that claim requires a customer account.

The site itself shows no company address or legal entity; the Tucson address comes from the Trustpilot profile and the FDA letter.

Reader questions

Answered from the file
Is Umbrella Labs legit?

It is an operating Tucson, Arizona retailer that publishes certificates from two named laboratories and ships free within the US. It also received an FDA warning letter dated May 18, 2021 concerning non-peptide products named in the letter, publishes no returns policy, and files its certificates by date rather than lot number. Its Trustpilot profile shows 3.0 from 235 reviews.

Did Umbrella Labs get an FDA warning letter?

Yes. The FDA issued a warning letter dated 2021-05-18 to Umbrella in Tucson, AZ, naming umbrellalabs.is, for unapproved new drugs and misbranding of products named in the letter. Those products were research chemicals rather than peptides, and one was found to contain an undeclared pharmaceutical ingredient. The letter is on fda.gov under number 612037.

Where is Umbrella Labs located?

Tucson, Arizona. The address 3280 E Hemisphere Loop, Suite 190, Tucson, AZ 85706 appears on the Trustpilot profile and in the FDA letter but not on the site itself, which publishes only a phone number and business hours. Shipping is US-only.

Does Umbrella Labs publish COAs?

Yes, on an open index with direct PDF links from MZ BioLabs and Vanguard Laboratory, covering HPLC, LC-MS and endotoxin. The files are named by date rather than lot number, so matching a certificate to a specific vial is not possible from the index alone.
